Introduction
Software Defined Radio allows a single radio to receive a very wide band of radio signals and for computer software to dynamically filter the information to just the frequency you want. All in software. The inexpensive ($20-$30) units can receive limited bands of signals, while the more expensive ($150) units can receive many more bands of signals.
