What to do
- Pause, grieve.
- Post an appropriate Obituary in the local Newspaper.
- Get Death Certificates, you will likely need multiple copies.
- Start reaching out to Financial Institutions letting them know that the person has died. They will need a Death Certificate. They will let you know if there are any Beneficiaries listed on anything.
- Make a list of those accounts without beneficiary designations listed. These will require some work.
- Make sure any real-estate property/businesses are secure.
